What is the online directory?
NAATI has a public online directory of translators and interpreters who hold a NAATI certification. This is one of the main ways the community can find a certified practitioner to work with.
Search results in the directory show the highest credentials first, and then names appear in random order so no one practitioner is prioritised over another.
Translators and interpreters opt in to be displayed on the directory. NAATI does not share contact details for practitioners who are not listed.

Do I need to see a translator or interpreter in person?
Many translators and interpreters work remotely, which means they can help you by telephone or video call. You can search for a translator or interpreter in any location.
For some appointments, you might want the interpreter to be with you in person. Whether you need someone face-to-face depends on your situation, the type of service, and lead time. You can filter practitioners in the NAATI online directory by location to find those near you.

What if there are no practitioners in my language?
If no NAATI-certified practitioner is available, there may be other options depending on the language and situation.
